Privacy & Cookie Policy
This policy explains how Krylonos Studio (“we”, “us”) processes information when you use the Pallet Calculator web application. We aim to comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) as they apply in the United Kingdom.
Who we are
The data controller for this site is Krylonos Studio. For privacy enquiries, contact us via the GitHub repository linked from the application or the Ko-fi page if you already support the project there.
Summary
- Your pallet layouts and box data are processed in your browser and are not uploaded to our servers.
- Theme and preset data are stored locally on your device (local storage).
- If you use Feedback in the footer, only the text you type in that form (and an optional email address) is sent to Google Firebase Firestore — not your stacking plans.
- Analytics and the Ko-fi widget run only if you choose Accept non-essential on the cookie banner.
- You can change your choice at any time using Cookie settings in the app footer.
Cookies and similar technologies
Under UK law, we must ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies or similar technologies (for example, analytics or third-party widgets that may store or read data on your device). Essential storage needed to provide the service you request does not require consent.
| Purpose | Type | Consent required? | Provider / details |
|---|---|---|---|
| Theme preference | Local storage (palletcalc_theme) |
No (strictly necessary / functional) | Your browser only |
| Saved box presets | Local storage (palletcalc_presets_v2) |
No (functional, on your device) | Your browser only |
| Cookie choice | Local storage (palletcalc_cookie_consent_v1) |
No (records your consent) | Your browser only |
| Anonymous usage analytics | Cookies / similar (Firebase Analytics) | Yes — opt in only | Google Firebase (see Google’s privacy policy) |
| Support / donation widget | Third-party script & cookies (Ko-fi) | Yes — opt in only | Ko-fi (see Ko-fi’s privacy policy) |
| Web fonts | Request to Google Fonts | May involve third-party processing; no advertising cookies from us | Google Fonts |
| In-app feedback | Data sent to Firebase Firestore when you submit the form | No (you choose to submit) | Google Firebase — category, message, optional email, app version, timestamp |
Rejecting non-essential cookies means we do not load Firebase Analytics or the Ko-fi overlay on your device. You can still use every calculator feature and open Ko-fi in a new browser tab if you choose to support the project.
Feedback
When you submit feedback through the app, we store the category you select, your message, an optional contact email if you provide one, the app version, and a submission timestamp in Firebase Firestore (Google). We use this to respond to bugs and feature ideas. We do not attach your box dimensions, weights, layer layouts, or preset data to feedback submissions.
To request access or deletion of feedback you have sent, contact us via the GitHub repository or Ko-fi page linked from the app, including enough detail for us to find your submission (for example, the date and approximate message text).
Analytics
If you accept non-essential cookies, we use Firebase Analytics to collect aggregated, anonymous usage events (for example, export or preset actions). We do not send your box dimensions, weights, or stacking layouts to analytics. Event parameters contain counts and feature names only.
Your rights (UK GDPR)
Depending on your situation, you may have the right to:
- Access personal data we hold about you
- Request correction or erasure
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent at any time (for example, via Cookie settings or by clearing site data)
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk
Because stacking data stays in your browser, much of the information you enter is not personal data held by us. Analytics identifiers, if enabled, are managed by Google Firebase under their policies.
Retention
Local data remains on your device until you clear it. Feedback records in Firestore are kept until we delete them after they are no longer needed for support and product improvement. Analytics retention follows Firebase / Google’s configured retention periods when you have opted in.
Changes
We may update this policy when the app or legal requirements change. The “Last updated” date at the top will be revised accordingly.
